[Item No. 18-O0060]

“Spindle” planter designed by Swiss product designer Anton Bee (b. 1927) in 1952 for Eternit, AG. The “Spindle” planter and its larger cousin “Diabola,” also manufactured by Eternit, are often both credited to the Swiss designer Willy Guhl because of the similar shape.
However, we found that the “Spindle” was attributed to Bee and he may have been involved in drawing the design of both planters from the archive of Musee fur Gestaltung Zurich.
Not surprisingly, Bee studied interior design under Willy Guhl at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich and took his degree in 1953.  Afterwards, he worked at various architectural firms in Switzerland and abroad including Marcel Breuer in Paris, Braun in Austria and Wohnbedarf in Switzerland.

3 planters available in varying patina.
